I always find it amazing councillors need to be told, by by-law, something most people know is not a good idea during a formal meeting in the private sector.
One of the new inclusions in the bylaw involves switching cell phones, pagers, blackberries, and any other electronic device to a non-audible function during council and committee meetings. Recently, though, some councillors have started bringing their laptop computers to meetings to catch up on email correspondence. The tapping on the keyboards, says Stoney Creek councillor Maria Pearson is irritating.
