This insensitive action had the effect of stranding thousands of people across the city for no valid reason.
While we are encouraged to hear that the parties are returning to the negotiating table tomorrow, the process to bring the strike to a swift end must begin immediately.
Subject to a review of proposed back to work legislation, the Ontario PC Party will co-operate in ensuring swift passage.
We would urge Premier Dalton McGuinty to reconvene the Legislature at the earliest possible time Saturday or Sunday to get this process underway.
We would assume proper planning means a Bill has already been drafted and could be shared with all parties first thing Saturday to assist in expediting this process.
Particularly in light of the fact the union membership have rejected wage increases of 9 per cent over three years, we also urge the McGuinty government to include in the legislation a provision which would require any arbitrator to take into account the ability to pay on the part of taxpayers in deciding on the ultimate terms of a new contract.

You might not feel that way if you were a transit worker or even blink an eye if you own a shiny new vehicle to shuttle space around in.
It sucks if you rely on public transit to get around when something like this happens. But you also know what it's like when people protest injustices don't you MAW? A three percent cost of living increase don't cut it these days when inflation runs at 7-10% right now. Please don't cite artificially derived economic figures that claim 2-4%, it would insult our intelligence.
It is only when people unite behind common causes that things can begin to improve. We're all in the same boat and it's rocking and rolling. All we can do is keep bailing a little faster each day.
The buses and trains are rolling again. Relax and have a butterscotch cookie.
