Thank-you very much for addressing my concerns respecting transparency, and the sad lack of it at the municipal level. As a candidate for municipal government representing the hard working taxpayers of ward seven on Hamilton mountain, I fully understand your delay in replying, you've been very busy getting the Federal treasury in tip top shape, so I'm glad you've had a moment to send me the communiqué below.
Recently, my disabled son Logan passed away, so hearing from a friend I greatly respect and admire has put some sunshine in my day, thanks' Jim, I owe you one. Please feel free to leave comments at the following Blog entry, Logan Whittle had more friends than I ever imagined, his reach was almost as long as yours, well friends from around the world have sent their respects, and for that Laurie and I are truly blessed with a community that cares.

Further to your budget deliberations, I must say your consultative, interactive web site is an excellent resource for taxpayers to get truthful, timely budget information that will hold them in good stead during the municipal election, where unfounded blame assessment may conveniently arise. And your introductory video outlining your plans is excellent, I'm truly impressed, as will all those that visit the site to educate themselves of the fiscal realities your government faces and to let you know what the people of Canada would like done on their behalf by the Ministry of Finance, at your direction as Minister. Thank goodness for that as your leadership skills are a fine example to follow.

Seems to me the level of openness and transparency shown by your government on the issue of the fiscal imbalance is miles ahead of the secretive, closed shop democracy the electors of Hamilton have long suffered.
Hopefullycd on November 13th, it will change for the better as at least three new Councilors will be elected. I hope to be one of them because I promised my son Logan I would, and I'm a man of my word. I have Logan's fire in my belly to win, and I will.
When I'm successful on November 13th, 2006, I will be committed to seeing our local government improves their accountability to the taxpayers of Hamilton by raising the level of transparency and openness to the high level your government has set in this regard. This will go a long way in providing good value for the taxes paid to local municipal government by the people of Ontario, including my home town Hamilton, Ontario.
Respectfully,
Mark-Alan Whittle, CEO
