It's been a while since we last wrote letters to each other respecting our adventures living and learning in the public system of education. I sent a c.c. through your web site. As you may recall, I’ve been advocating for less abled children like my boy and the services they get in Public School for quite some time, being Logan’s Dad and all.
I just received your press release respecting your governments new Provincial Parent Involvement Policy and needless to say, I’m intrigued. Given my first hand experience with Logan in the classroom I’m in the unique position of being able to test drive your policies, as I have been doing since Logan started attending Public School. The previous administration had some great ideas too, and we both know what happened to those don’t we?
So my question is this Gerard, how come ordinary parents like me who want to get involved in your provincial and regional initiatives such as a new provincial Parent Advisory Board composed of and representing parents that will replace the pre-existing Minister-appointed parent council, never seem to get those jobs or positions no matter who recommends us, even Mayors for heavens sake?
As this board will initially be selected by parent nominators, and will make a rapid transition to election by parents, how will parents apply and to whom? Therefore, please consider this my application directly to you, ok Minister Kennedy?
As always I appreciate your good council.
Respectfully,
Mark-Alan Whittle
