RE: Election
I have lived in Hamilton my whole life and I pay close attention to candidates and their platforms.
The one that caught my eye was the Ward 9 race in Stoney Creek where a candidate is spreading misinformation concerning the industrial landfill in that ward. Yes, it creates lots of leachate, which is rain water that flows through the landfill.
This candidate is also telling residents he has been "fighting to close the dump." Nobody heard from him before this election and city council does not have authority to close the facility. The liner of this facility ensures no leachate escapes and there is no way it could flood the area because the sewer system is sealed.
Sowing fear to get votes does a disservice to us all. I hope voters won't be so easily fooled.
