Re “Trudeau’s carbon caper” (Lorrie Goldstein, March 6): With all the talk of carbon credits and cap-and-trade, I’m left wondering how much more this will cost me? Trudeau’s carbon caper scheme left me wondering how these schemes are going to stop air pollution at the source? I’m a retired mechanic and drive a small, fuel-efficient compact car (Dodge Dart) that puts out almost zero emissions. Modern automotive technology has provided for that, rendering Drive Clean a redundant cash grab. It makes abundantly more sense to fix the root cause of pollutants that make up greenhouse gasses. I guess whoever invents a way to sequester bovine gas emissions will become a millionaire, as their contribution to greenhouse gasses is enormous. Like most problems that are solvable, it’s always more cost effective to fix the root cause. Punishing the people for something they have no control over to fix a problem most of the Third World is ignoring, is shameful.
